Automated Railroad Maintenance Systems

battery charging and comprehensive care, power, communication, IoT products, integration, design

Automated Railroad Maintenance Systems (ARMS), represented by TPSC, specializes in system design, systems integration, distribution of electronics and software for communication, power, and control of railroad equipment.

ARMS also provides highest caliber products and services to help railroads obtain optimum performance and viability from their locomotive starting batteries.

BatteryNurse

The BatteryNurse™ automated battery charging and testing station will vastly improve the low State-of-Charge conditions that negatively affect battery life and performance. This first of its kind solution provides the optimal equipment and method for railroads to protect their locomotive battery assets–whether they are in active use or temporary storage–and ensure the batteries are fully charged when needed.

Railroad Battery Services

Jumpstarter Loco-72

Portable battery system for safe use in starting locomotive engines. Requires approximately six hours charge time when fully depleted. AC Mains options are 120VAC 1-phase 50A or 480VAC 3-phase Wye with Neutral and Ground. Features Safety Smart Start 3 Technology with overheat protection, quick disconnect on chassis, reverse polarity protection, and a battery-saving gauge that prevents damage from heavy discharging and lack of charging.

Portable Select-a-Charge Plus

Conveniently portable 20AMP chargers (32 or 64 volt) provide one-touch programming that allows users to select precision charge profiles for either flooded or sealed locomotive starting batteries. ARMS models are equipped with an integrated Canadus Battery Energizer and include the additional DC cable assemblies.

Single Point Watering Systems

Frequent locomotive starts demand aggressive charging which results in increased water use within the batteries. Maintaining the proper level of water in each cell is essential to ensure cranking amps are available. The RBS SPWS are the ONLY watering systems designed specifically to work on ALL MAJOR brands of starting batteries, and to survive the extreme temperatures and vibrations on locomotives.

Easier and Better Maintenance

  • Ensure that all cells, including those in the very back are watered
  • Maintainer can complete watering tasks in about one or two minutes
  • Will automatically ensure the correct amount of water is delivered to each cell, every time
  • Typical install requires only about 15 minutes
  • Standard hose and coupler connections available

Designed for Operational Safety

  • Designed to allow for electrolyte expansion to help eliminate dangerous acid spills
  • The ONLY single-point watering system that provides internal flame arrestors
  • Eliminates the need to lift or remove a battery from the compartment before watering
  • De-gas chamber allows normal release of gasses
