GNB Element SLS Locomotive Starting Batteries
Because of its advanced VRLA design, the SLS locomotive starting battery will provide more power than conventional flooded styles over a wide operating temperature range. Provides large cranking capacity for multiple daily starts, and ample reserved capacity to keep ancillary equipment powered. Other key features include reduced maintenance with NO CELL WATERING REQUIRED, as well as no specific gravity checks or acid equalization required. GNB KDZ 651
Delivers the power you’ll need, no matter what the conditions. It has a high reserve capacity of 650 Ahr for 8 hours at 77 °F. Copper cored terminals provide longer sustained cranking power.

GNB KDZ-2701 and KDZ-3001
Heavy duty batteries feature proven reliability and performance, quick engine cranking, high break-away current, long service life, and heavy-duty construction throughout. KDZ-2701 offers large reservoir of electrolyte. KDZ-3001 offers higher capacity per cube.
Chargers for Locomotive Starting Batteries
Aggressive charging of in-service batteries is essential to provide the power needed for frequent starts, while periodic float charging of stored batteries ensures they are ready for service when needed. ARMS offers a number of chargers for Wet Cell and VRLA (sealed) batteries to fit the needs and budgets of all railroads.

64 Volts / 90amp bulk charger to use on board or in shop for a full locomotive battery set (32 cells).

ARMS Stationary Select-a-Charge
Stationary bulk charger to use in shop for one half of a locomotive set (16 cells/32V) provides one-touch programming that allows user to select precision charge profile for either flooded or sealed locomotive starting batteries.

ARMS Portable Select-a-Charge
SCP3225 (32Volt); SCP6425 (64Volt)
Conveniently portable 25AMP chargers (32 or 64 volt) are ideal for use as service (float) chargers both on board and in shop. One-touch programming allows the user to select a precision charge profile for either flooded or sealed locomotive starting batteries.
If using predominately in shop, ARMS recommends the integration of the Canadus Battery Energizer to keep batteries healthy and to extend battery life. SCCP3225 (32Volt); SCCP6425 (64Volt).

Cab Signal Master
A microprocessor based system specially developed to test all cab signal equipment in railroad locomotives and transit cars. The portable tester accurately simulates both cab signal code rates and speed signals simultaneously and can measure loop current while coding. Programmable default settings and straight forward operations allows for simple "plug it in, turn it on" operation.
MU Locomotive Trainline/Cable Test System
The MU test system can perform shorts testing, continuity testing, and ground-leakage testing on each of the 27 pin Multi-Unit Trainlines normally found on Freight Locomotives. The MU Test System is comprised of two identical tester units. Each unit is installed in a rugged, water resistant Pelican case and contains an MU cable receptacle that mates with a 27 pin MU jumper cable.
On-Board Hot-Bearing Detection Unit
Ultra-Tech's On-Board Hot-Bearing Detection Unit is a self-contained, microprocessor based monitor specifically designed to provide an on-board Surveillance System for monitoring AC traction motor bearing and wheel bearing temperatures of railway trucks.
It is the most cost effective monitoring device available, assuring safety for all on-board, while having the quality of workmanship that our customers expect from Ultra-Tech.
The Speed-O-Calibrator consisting of two sections, a control box and drive unit. provides a complete test of a locomotive speedometer system. The control box is used in the cab of a locomotive to control the speed of the Axle Alternator Drive Unit. The Drive Unit drives the Axle Alternator at various speeds while the user verifies that the correct speed is displayed in the cab.

Additional Battery Care Products Frequent starts and aggressive charging increase the use of water stored in locomotive starting batteries. To ensure cranking amps are available, maintaining the proper level of water is essential. ARMS offers the ONLY single point watering system that has been specifically designed for locomotive batteries.
ARMS also offers the only Battery Desulfation unit that can help restore and extend battery use.
ARMS Single Point Watering System
With manual watering guns, there is no way to be certain adequate water has been delivered to each cell. What’s more, many watering guns cannot reach cells located in the back of the locomotive battery compartment.
Installation is typically complete in less than 15 minutes. Once installed, watering an entire set of batteries can be done in one to two minutes verses an average of 45 minutes. Using Flow-Rite manufactured parts, this system is the only SPWS that provides internal flame arresters, plus patented, acid-resistant polypropylene tubing. Systems are available for almost all standard locomotive batteries used today. Additional accessories are also available from ARMS. ARMS - Canadus Battery Energizer (Desulfates Battery Plates)
By pulsing small amounts of current at very high frequency and high amplitude, the Canadus Advanced Desulfation Technology breaks down the sulfation crystals on the battery plates. Regular use can keep batteries “healthy” and extend battery life.
